When your designs have too much details, logo and letters are very small. Then woven is good option. While embroidery is made on twill/ velvet directly; woven patches is formed by colored warp and weft yarns, 100% area cover. The surface is flat. No background fabric, so lighter in weight. And cheaper in price. Woven patches are using different threads from embroidery patches. More colors are available. Also if you want to create your own design with special color threads. We have cooperated threads factory. Can do customized color threads. And threads are thinner compares to embroidery threads.
